Abstract

The article is a preliminary report of a Ph.D. study about the architectonic decoration in Apollonia of Illyria. In this work are presented the Doric, Ionic and Corinthian orders employees in Apollonia and their plastic decoration during Hellenisms and Roman period, focusing principally the octagonal Doric order. Between the decor draws attention the flower in the center of the canals in the ionic capitals extended geographically from the Southern Illyria to
Southern Italy. Quite interesting are some finds belonging to the Agonothetes Monument which can further help to better reflection for the facade of this building.
