THE USE OF SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS FOR TEACHING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN EFL
Abstract
The growing influence of foreign language in the context of globalization has attracted interest in finding the most appropriate techniques and strategies that contribute to the acquisition of a foreign language. Communication between the countries is already easier than before as a result of changes in science and technology. People try to learn different languages to communicate with other peoples. Being an international communication language, English is one of the languages for which there are high demands for learning. As a result, linguists have been trying to find new ways to learn it in a simple and effective way, paying attention to the modernization of teaching and learning methods and techniques as well as the teaching materials used.
Choosing literature and how it is offered to students in the classroom is very important. Teachers have to do the most creative learning by trying different methods and should not allow students to feel bored in the classroom. Teachers should be able to prepare a well-organized classroom, where interaction between literature and language will bring the best method of teaching English to students.
In order to preserve the student’s interest in learning and to increase their ability of critical and aesthetic perception, teachers should give them the opportunity of practice, discussions, questions, and defending their controversial opinions on different opinions in class. The main reason for doing so is to maintain the motivation and interest of students and to avoid a boring hour with passive students.
